Well, it is the end of my junior year in college and I honestly really cannot believe it. It seems like just yesterday I was unpacking my bags for the first time as a freshman - man how the years have just flown by. Even though, I am always going to remember this time for the simple fact that Bin Laden is dead after almost ten years of the most ridiculous game of hide and seek.
This summer, I embark on a wonderful adventure - camp counseling. I am really excited since I never have to work on weekends and I only work til the last 6pm on the weekdays. For me this is wonderful because it gives me time to have a social life. I don't necessarily need vacation days to have a mini-weekend get away vacation fun. I can hang out with my friends and just relax. Plus, being outside all day will help me work on my tan :) ok I know I am such a girl.
Next year is my last and final year of college. Senior year - the year that everyone looks forward to. I am looking forward to it and dreading it. In my spring semester I will be student teaching which will be a fun adventure. I will finally get to put my college education to use. Granted, I need to take my Praxis II still - but that is besides the point. I have no doubt in my mind that senior year will bring exciting new things into my life.
And now that I am officially a senior, I feel a sense of maturity. There have been so many things I have learned so here is a list of what I have learned.
1. DO NOT whatever you do procrastinate until the last second. I know everyone is always told this but no one really seems to follow through with this advice. If you wait until the last second you will kill brain cells - I promise you that this is not what you want to happen. Trust me, I don't procrastinate per say, but I also don't get things done really early in advance. Getting things done earlier will stress you out while you are doing them, but the feeling of relief that you get knowing that the big project is done and you don't need to worry about it is the best. Rushing only makes you turn in half-assed work.
2. If you are having a fight late at night. Just go to bed. Now, I really cannot stop fighting once I am in a fight and it is resolved. However, I read that it is better to go to bed angry because if you have a problem on your mind, you will look at it while you sleep and actually find out what was making it so bad and have a better understanding of the bigger picture so that in the morning when you go to resolve it - your not screaming at a person, just calmly expressing your opinion on the situation. Granted, then you need to hear the other person out to completely before talking about it again. Never just listen to one side of something.
3. Relationships are hard work. No matter if a person is only a phone call away or half way across the state, ALL relationships are hard work. Some are more work than other, but they are involve work. Relationships don't just come naturally, there will be ups and downs and it how you handle them as a couple will show how strong you are. Communication is everything to keeping any relationship together and finding out how to communicate is important too.
4. Always trust what your mother says. I almost never listen to my mother and most of the time she ends up being right. She told me to wait on my glasses to find a better pair but because I am impatient, I had to get a pair I could afford that was a little big for my face and I am annoyed with them now.
5. Patients. I know this is something I struggle on. I am NOT a patient person. I am the equivalent of a child being told that their Christmas presents have been bought than as soon as the parents are not looking or out of the house, searching the entire house to find said Christmas presents. And don't lie - we have all been there at one point of our lives, some of us just cannot wait when were told there is something special for us.
6. Money is a good thing. I have a spending problem and I know I do and I am trying to be better - but it takes work. Well working more to get more money is also a nice solution to the problem. I know I couldn't always work as much as I wanted, but having a job is definitely better than trying to just live off the money I get at Christmas and my birthday.
7. Buy textbook from Amazon or anywhere else that isn't the bookstore if you can help it. Books are ten times cheaper when you buy them outside of school (unless they are only sold at school, which I have come across that problem once in a blue moon). You will save so much money from doing this.
8. Stock up on food and drinks. If I can avoid eating in the dining commons - it will be for the best. The food here makes me sick and the food outside here is healthier. So, bring your own food.
9. Find time to exercise. I wish I had more time this semester to do this but it really is a good way to de-stress and feel good about yourself.
10. Make the room feel homey. It is easier to stay in your room and want to be there if you feel at home.
11. Let the little stuff roll off your shoulder. Seriously people who sweat the small stuff like I do. STOP right now. It will save you a headache if you just let it blow over.
Well this is my random words of wisdom for a while.

A start of a new semester
Well another semester has gone and past and we are at the beginning of the end of the year. Before we know it, the spring will come and all our favorite seniors are going to be anticipating graduation. For me - I will just be anticipating the end of the year and the beginning of my last year here at college.
It is crazy to think that I am almost a senior. Graduation is only a little over a year away from me now. Man has the time gone by quickly.
However, lets hope this semester can be a good one for everyone. So remember:
1) be on top of your homework. The earlier you start to procrastinate the more stressed you will be come mid-semester and finals.
2) make time for yourself. We as college kids get busy real fast. We never make time to just stop and spend some quality time with ourselves.
3) make time to hang out with your friends. Before you know it, we will be leaving to go all over the place again and will have to wait 3 months to see our friends.
4) don't stay up all night if you can help it. Getting a full nights rest will always be better for your body,
Well that is all I have time to write because since it is a new semester I decided I needed a little change and dyed my hair tonight.
Hope everyones spring semester is a good one!
